sewing class

Tuesday night (Sept 7) we will be making pillowcase dresses at the church at 6:30. The Young Women will be joining us as well. If you want to make this project, you will need to purchase fabric (measure from the chest down to the length you want it and add several inches for seam allowances. If you want two coordinating fabrics, you will need 10 inches. You can also add embellishments such as rick rack or ribbon if you want. For the top straps you can use ribbon or a little more fabric.
Remember, you can bring any project you want, if you aren't interested in this particular project. Come and sew with us! It's really a lot of fun. If you don't know how to sew, this is a great opportunity to try it out. This is a very easy project that would make a great gift.
Please remember to bring a sewing machine if you have one, an extension cord if you have one, and scissors, fabric, thread, etc... If you have a rotary cutter and mat, that would be great to bring also.

In November (9th)we will have a class to give you ideas of things you can make or do for Christmas gifts. We will also have another sewing night (16th).

Car Seat Covers and More
Ann will be teaching us how to make car seat covers at the church at 6:00 Tuesday, August 10th. You will need 2 different contrasting colors of material. One yard of each if you want to make the ties out of fabric. (or you can make the ties with ribbon which is much easier, in that case bring 3/4 yard of each fabric, and then you will also need contrasting ribbon for the ties on the top). Also if you want embellishments such as rick rack then you should bring that as well. Please bring a sewing machine if you have one, along with your thread, scissors, etc, and an extension cord if you have one. If you are not interested in making this project, feel free to bring along whatever project you are already working on. It's a lot of fun to sew with everyone else!
The Humanitarian Board is collecting school supplies: glue sticks, crayons, colored pencils, child scissors, pencil sharpeners, stickers, and construction paper. If you can help out we would appreciate it. To involve the youth and Primary kids we are holding a contest. We will have baskets in front of the primary doors and the Young Women/Men's doors for the next three weeks. Drop your donated items in to help them win!
The Humanitarian Board is also collecting fabric of any kind and size. The would like to start making bags for school kits as well as quilts. If you have anything to donate contact Stephanie Duvall.

Saturday June 19th we are having a preparedness class at the church at 10 am. The brethren are welcome to join us....we would love to have them there. We will be talking about food storage and canning, 72 hour kits, and giving tips on how to use your wheat storage. We will have handouts and recipes for you to take home. We encourage you to be prepared for the unexpected and when we get together to discuss these topics, everyone benefits from each other. Come with your questions and your ideas to share. For those of you who ordered a basic 72 hour kit, we will have them ready for you. If you did not purchase one, and want to make your own, we will have a list of things you can put in one. We hope to see you there!
